I spent the week focused on learning how to teach within an unfamiliar school district. Overwhelmed. I have a background in mechatronics and creative writing. A lot of relatively quiet types gravitate towards that sort of work. I did not know how to manage behaviors very well, so I decided to go back to graduate school to learn. The condition of my funding is I do NOT pursue drone studies as part of my graduate degree, only teaching. I agreed. The costs had me re-examine the offset cost of commuting to a distant school for teaching experience, and it was just cheaper to work in my hometown, much cheaper. The pay is lousy. Entonces un título universitario más para mí por favor.
News
Everything is scary. I am going back to photography. Projects will resume after I enroll in school, in the brief periods between assignments. You look at maps and see houses. I see graves. I am going to use a failed experience at an inner city middle school guide my graduate studies and try to develop, test, and then deploy strategies and assignments based on direct-assessment tools offered as a spectrum of skills identified and developed, often in a sequence, before I hit the classroom. Doing all of that on the fly was tough. Kids can be a challenge to teach. I do better when everyone in the room wants to be there. I found the lack of respect for their own grades, each other, themselves, me, the school, really alarming. It’s not amusing. It’s kids failing to get a foundation for secondary school that bothered me. The complete erosion of attention span. The need for trivia, disruption, diversion, ignorance and schadenfreude disturbing. I have to go back to school to learn how to manage 6th graders. Blame TikTok, I don’t know. Thaaanks, Obama.
I had the flu again. I gave it to my family. My wife has been down with fever for 24 hours. My sons are recovering. My last weekend was me in the bed with a coat on, unable to sleep, chills, aches. It’s NOT normal to be sick like this so many times in a season. I lost five pounds. That’s a good thing, but just not like that.
I get my drone back today.
I would mention I like Zipline’s idea of a retractable cargo bay on a zipline instead of dropping stuff with parachute’s. A lot of ‘your chocolate is in my peanut butter’ scenarios nixed at the get-go. No one wants a 10 lb. drone going out of control with 9″ carbon fiber props. No one wants the noise, either. It reminds me of Mars Rover lander that jettisoned after untethering from Perseverance. Zipline made everything recoverable, and cute. Bravo. Watch out for live wires.
Studying for my recurrent. There is a nest of birds in my A/C unit. My cat is going berserk.
